Embark Pet Services is based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, and was founded in May 2019 by owner, Emily Harker who has been working with animals since 2015.
I have always loved and owned animals and decided I wanted to work with them after travelling around Thailand and meeting lots of stray, mistreated dogs. It broke my heart that I couldn’t help all of the dogs over there, so I decided then that I wanted to try and make a difference to animal’s lives back in England.
I completed my Level 3 Animal Management and Animal Science Diploma by the following year, receiving a double grade of distinction*, I then spent three years working with the RSPCA and in a veterinary hospital.
It was due to a lack of support from my previous employer that I made the decision to follow my dream and establish my own business, providing professional, top quality dog walking and pet sitting services in the Doncaster area.
I am qualified in, and have lots of experience in, pet first aid, advanced canine first aid and wellbeing, and emergency canine first aid. These qualifications help me to spot injury or illnesses early on, meaning your pets are always in the safest of hands.
I love nothing more than giving the same love and attention to other people’s pets that I give to my beautiful family dogs, Ginger and Hudson.
Created from a love of animals
My favourite part about this amazing job is building such strong bonds with all of the animals I look after, especially when a dog is so nervous of you in the beginning. It’s so rewarding being able to put that work in for them to trust you and eventually bond with the other dogs on pack walks, and seeing how excited they get when they know they are coming on an Embark walk!
My pet service business was created from my love of animals, however I am constantly working towards expanding my knowledge for the benefit of our customers.
I am passionate about animal nutrition and have two dogs at home with skin and joint problems. We always struggled to find products on the market that would not aggravate their conditions, but that are natural and affordable too. This led me to expand into selling natural, healthy dog treats! I am so proud of our products, which are all tried and tested (and approved) by our furry chief taste testers, Ginger and Hudson.
We do not sell a single dog treat that we would not give to our own dogs!
